Behavior Crisis Management Training (BCMT) was developed by the National Resource Center specifically for foster and adoptive parents. The core objectives of this training are: 1) Provide foster and adoptive parents with a common knowledge base regarding preventing and intervening in crisis situations, including those involving aggressive behavior. 2) Strengthen the skills of foster and adoptive parents in the essential areas of nonphysical intervention techniques, teach more appropriate and effective behaviors, and planning for the needs of individual children. 3) Further develop relationship-building skills with children in out-of-home care. 4) Use the opportunity of group learning to enhance team building among foster and adoptive parents and strengthen parents sense of empowerment.
